I have been working on a 1000-person lodge which is shooting for LEED Silver. One of the issues we have encountered with the Light Pollution credit is the unique mix of commercial and residential fixtures in the building. In particular, in the hotel rooms there is a fan/light combo which does not provide the IES file for this unit. IES files are used by lighting calculation software to calculate the amount of light in a room. In your opinion, would it be sufficient to model a comparable commercial light (same wattage, lumens, etc) or are we disqualified due to the lack of an IES file? Thank you for your wisdom.
