I am on a site where we have the option to chip the fallen tree's and stumps and sell that material to a power plant. Will tracking the amount of debris that is chipped count towards LEED Credit?

Hi James,
Unfortunately, the debris that is chipped cannot count towards LEED credit. The credit requirements specifically state that all land-clearing debris cannot be included in the diversion rate calculations, including vegetation. However, the chipped wood should be addressed in the projects Construction Waste Management Plan as it is waste directly related to the construction of the building.
I hope this helps!

James - I agree that this cannot be counted in your calculations for this credit. However, doing the right thing doesn't always get counted for LEED but that doesn't mean there's not value in the associated action.
