Hi all,
I'm currently working in a project of shopping mall (common areas + tenant areas) pursuing LEED certification (Core&Shell).
One of the compliance paths that we may be forced to follow is option 2. However, according to reference guide, for retail buildings the AEDG indicated is applicable for medium to large box retail buildings (1860 - 9290 m2).
Since the total area of this project is larger than this (> 45000 m2, which includes common areas + tenant areas that range between 50 and 1500 m2 each one) this AEDG is still applicable? Or for a project such as this option 2 (and also option 3 that have the same area restriction) are not a compliance path, meaning that energy simulation is mandatory?

If the prescriptive paths do not apply then yes you are forced to do energy simulation.
The Retail AEDG might be applicable in your situation. I would ask USGBC/GBCI that question and see what they say. They may be willing to stretch the rules in your situation.
