EBOM-2009 SSc4:Alternative Commuting Transportation

online form terminologies

The SSc4 online form requires inputs for the following: 1) "total number of regular building occupants" 2) "total number of regular building occupants required to receive the survey" 3) "total number of regular building occupants who received the survey" 4) "total number of regular building occupants who responded to the survey" Part of the project's regular building occupants go on 'mission' or are on field work (for periods over 1 week) when the survey was conducted. Hence, they may be part of the total number of regular building occupants, but are not around to receive the survey. Therefore in this case, #1 and #2 would be greater than #3. However, the form cites an error as such: "The number of occupants who received the survey must be greater than or equal to the number of occupants required to receive the survey", where the figure in #3 should be greater than or equal to the figure in #1 and #2. My query: 1) How can we accurately capture the actual condition wherein the number of occupants who received the survey is actually less than the actual/total number of occupants? 2) Can we just opt for alternative compliance if this condition cannot be captured by the online form? Hoping for your advise. thank you and regards, Pabs

Hi Pablo, it seems like it might be easiest to keep the occupancy for this credit consistent with the rest of your LEED submittal and include the occupants that go on short missions in the project's regular building occupant count. If you're still able to reach the minimum number of survey respondents per Approach 2, your calculations should work out okay. Alternatively if you can determine the number of occupants that were out on field work for the survey week, you could probably subtract them from the total number of building occupants for this credit and include a narrative explaining why the total count is lower for SSc4 than in the rest of your application.
