Hi, my project plans to use 2 coating layers for steel frame structure of façade system, onsite and indoor. The first layer is anti corrosion primer which I can identify VOC limit of 250g/l but the second layer is a finishing coating on steel surface, for aesthetic purpose, not for anti-rust/corrosion, so I really don't know what type of this coating to be classified in LEED tables and identify its VOC. Can you please help me with advice. Thank you very much

I suppose, it would depend on what coating you wanted to use? Typically on the projects that I have worked on after the anticorrosion primer, I standard non-flat paint coating is applied, which would fall under the category of GS-11 non-flat coating. maximum VOC 150 g/l.
However, it would be possible to apply and Industrial Maintenance Coating, therefore the maximum VOC content would be 250 g/l.

Thank you John-David for your reply. I just ask if the steel structure will be enclosed by finishing ceiling and won't expose to the room below. Will LEED requirement still apply in this case.

Only if the air/vapour barrier is between the steel and the finished ceiling - if the structural steel is below(inside) the air/vapour it must meet the requirements.

Hi, a supplier gave me a paint product that has 2 figures of VOC content based on different test standards, one is based one US EPA method 24 test which shows VOC more than LEED limit, another one is based one EU standard which shows VOC less than LEED limit. Which figure is used to judge and select for LEED? Thanks for your support.

US EPA method 24 test is required.
