NC-v4 LTc6:Bicycle facilities

Definition of main entrance

In the LEED v4 reference guide, it is given that the bicycle storage should be provided within 100' of the main entrance. Is it main entrance of the project building or project site?

As long as it is within the 30 meter walking distance, can a building main entrance also be considered a functional entry and use it for the long term storage the same as for short term storage? According to the LEED BDC reference definition, page 110: functional entry a building opening designed to be used by pedestrians and open during regular business hours. It does not include any door exclusively designated as an emergency exit, or a garage door not designed as a pedestrian entrance.

In case there is an underground parking can the elevator that connects the underground parking with the ground floor be considered a principal entrance ?

Also have a question: Could the short-term bicycle storage be located less than 30 meters from the elevators in the underground parking lot? Can it count as main entrance?

Hi Mariana, Short-term bycicle storage can be located less than 30 meters from the elevators (if your elevators provide direct access to the building and no additional distance has to be traversed to reach the main building entrance). I recommend you to use the LEED v4.1 approach for this credit which allows a 60 meter walking distance between the short-term bycicle storage and the main entrance. Vertical distances travelled by elevator are exempt from counting towards the walking distance requirements.
