FAQs about EQp1 :

We have a VAV system where single AHUs serve multiple zones. Do we need to take outside air measurements at each VAV box?

Our building has a single fan that supplies outside air to multiple AHUs. Do we need to perform outside air testing at the supply fan or at all AHUs?

What if our systems do not meet the required outside air when systems are tested at worst-case conditions?

What if after our Preliminary Review we have to revise the ventilation rate procedure calculations and find that we need to make corrections to the system in order to meet the prerequisite? Can we redo the outside air testing after making corrections? Wou

My building has 80 AHUs providing ventilation to building spaces. Do I have to do the ventilation calculations and conduct outdoor air measurements for each one?

Our system cannot provide enough outdoor air to meet ASHRAE 62.1-2010 due to design limitations. How much outdoor air must we provide to meet Case 2 instead?

The outdoor air intake for our ventilation system is not accessible, and it’s not possible to measure the outdoor airflow directly. How can we determine the outdoor airflow for this system?

How do I find whether my project is located in a non-attainment area for particulate matter or exceeds the prerequisite ozone requirements?

What happened to the IEQ Space Matrix that was available to version 2009 projects? What should I reference to determine how spaces in my building should be categorized for this prerequisite?

EBOM-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Occupancy Category

I am working through the Minimum IAQ Performance calculator and I need a recommendation.... Our facility is 105,000 quare feet (ground level). Everything is single zone HVAC. We are a food manufacturing facility, so I chose the Pharmacy Prep Area for our production areas... (Nothing seemed to come close) My utter confusion is how to classify our unoccupied attic. I have 2 MAU supplying semi conditioned air to the space to help maintain the temps in the spaces below. This is one complete space with no dividers...... But what do you classify that? It is not a corridor, warehouse or shipping / receiving area.... I know the table is based on ASHRAE 62..... Any recommendations is greatly appreciated...

Hello Meier Corporate Account, There are (4) main category types: 1. Regularly Occupied (e.g. office) 2. Non-Regularly Occupied (e.g. corridor) 3. Unoccupied (e.g. mechanical room) 4. Unoccupiable (e.g. mechanical shaft, walls, columns) Space type #1 and #2 require ventilation. Space type #3 and #4 do not require ventilation. If space type is defined as #1 or #2 AND is not specifically listed in ASHRAE pick the most applicable space type from the ASHRAE list. If outdoor air is transferred from one room to the next it is still considered outdoor air - per numerous discussions with GBCI. I'd recommend not including the unoccupied attic in the ventilation calculations. *disclaimer* I have not seen the actual mechanical layout of your project so I am not entirely sure how outdoor air is being provided to the regularly and non-regularly occupied spaces of the project building.
