Dear all, I'm am modelling a project that is aiming to get EAp2 at design submittal with Tender Documentation LOD (Level of Detail), meaning there are lots of parameter only defined by technical specification. For example for glazing, 'U value should be below 1.8 W/m²K, and SHGC 0.25' or for Fan Coil Units, estimated pressure drop, maximum fan power, etc. Is it valid to do a submittal with this LOD on the ground that actual equipment/facade elements will perform as modelled or 'better', and therefore calculated saving are conservative? If so, would you submit an extra narrative describing in detail what was modelled (LOD) and why it is a conservative approach?

Yes you can model it that way. A narrative like that always helps. Keep in mind that you are required to update the energy model based on what gets installed rather than what was designed. Even if you submit it in the design review phase, when you go to the construction phase you have to indicate that nothing changed during construction that would affect the credit or you have to change the model. Just because the specs spell out a minimum does not mean that less than that will not be accepted during construction. So what may be conservative now, may not be at the end.
