NC-2009 MRc2:Construction Waste Management

Re-use of excavated rocks onsite for construction.

Project Location: India. The project construction site has rock bed. These rock are excavated, broken and re-used in construction on-site. The larger pieces are used for Gabion Wall in construction and smaller pieces are used for Plum Concrete. Can we use this re-used rocks part of the CWM submission calculations in consideration the efforts being put to reuse instead of sending to landfill. We have photographs of how this construction is happening on-site however there is no option for uploading photographs. Thank you.

Hi - The credit requirements state: "Excavated soil and land-clearing debris do not contribute to this credit." While using on-site materials is laudable, I think that since the credit requirements exclude land-clearing debris (which is further defined as soil, vegetation, and rocks) you cannot count this for MRc2; however, reuse of material can be counted under MRc3 and regionally extracted material can be counted under MRc5. Please note that materials that are reprocessed might better be captured under MRc4 instead of MRc3.
