Hi,
I’m currently working on a LEED 2009-CI project applied to a hypermarket and I’m having doubts in classifying some surfaces according to table 9.4.5 of ASHRAE 90.1 2007 (“Lighting Power Densities for Building Exterior”).
Most of the exterior lighting is installed for an external loading bay (not covered), used for trucks to load and unload merchandise. Additionally there is a some lighting between the loading bay and external storage areas and some more for access to 2 water deposits.
I am asking for your help to classify:
1_ loading bay area;
Can these surface be considered exempt under section 9.4.5, exception g (“Lighting for industrial production, material handling, transportation sites, and associated storage areas”), provided that the control is independent?
2_ water deposit area.
Thank you in advance,

Pedro,
You say that it is a LEED-CI project - Commercial INTERIORS. I'm not sure that the exterior areas that you talk about can be a part of a LEED-CI Project. Maybe you only need to worry about the interior lighting power.

Thank you for the response Glenn,
Could you please provide your source for the coment? I would greatly appreciate.
However I still have my doubts regarding that matter. I belive that I still need to respect the maximum level of DPI for outside areas.
Thank you in advance!
