Energy Modeling

Hi Marcus, I am doing energy modeling for a project.i have questions regarding the occupancy and building exposure.please comments on following. 1. Occupancy is use in model for simulation peak or normal, normal means,"one office is for general manager, at a particular time its maximum occupancy is 5 other then the only manager is occupy. Which option i use peak occupancy or normal for Energy simulation. 2. I am using only exposed wall in model for all spaces.if there no exposed wall i,m not using exposure.I,m not using partition wall for any space. Is it correct or not,?

1. It depends on how often the space is at peak occupancy. If that happens everyday for an hour or more they you would account for it. So most of the time for occupancy you use the peak occupancy and then develop a schedule with a diversity (some percentage of the peak) for each hour. 2. I am not sure I understand the question. Are asking should you model interior partition walls?

Thank you Marcus, yes i am asking about interior partition walls.

Yes you generally do not model interior partition walls. As such there is often a difference between the gross square footage of the building the net square footage in the model. Usually the difference is no greater than 10%. The "partition" included in the model is usually just a line between zones. Most of the time the line between zones is adiabatic (no heat flow). So yes you generally do not explicitly model interior partition walls.

Sounds good! Thank you Marcus
