Do bike racks have to be within the LEED project boundary?

My project type serves visitors who can reasonably be expected to not be using bikes, e.g. hotel, airport, assisted living facility. Can I exclude them from bike rack requirements?

Is a general storage room that is accessible to residents acceptable for covered bike storage?

Do I round up or down? What if the calculations show that I need 0.5 showers?

Our building is mostly residential. Must we provide showers and changing rooms for the nonresidential portion?

Does LEED have any requirements on spacing or the type of bike racks used? What about security?

Can you meet compliance with this credit without allowing all FTE access to showers? We will meet the shower requirements for having at least 0.5%, but we aren't sure if all FTEs will have access to the showers or not. It could be that one FTE user group will have restricted access to showers, but I don't see anywhere in the credit language calling out specifically that all FTEs need access. Thanks,

Hi Laura, not that I am aware. Is it a significant portion of the overall FTE's? And is there no way to alter access? It might be that your project is not a good fit for this credit or you could try reaching out to GBCI directly to discuss in more detail with them.

Hi Laura, do you have any news on this that you could share? I've got a project with a similar situation, about 6% of FTE (4 small retail units in larger office building) will not have access to showers, if the retail units do not get one shower each. Personally I think a project should not earn this credit if a number of FTE do not have access, but my client naturally doesn't want to install a separate shower in a 100m² retail unit.
