NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Kitchen Energy Model

In the normal case for baseline system 5-8, does a kitchen must be modeled as a separated HVAC system using system 3-4. I think the internal load of the kitchen in less than 10 btu/h ft difference from base building load and if it is, the heat is normally vent out by hood. So, the actual load is obviously less than 10 btu/h ft in the space. So, the kitchen zone should be include in the floor system of system 5-8. Am I correct?

Based on your description it does not sound like the exception applies so the kitchen would not be modeled with a separate system. The hood is typically considered a process load and modeled identically to the proposed case hood.
