CS-2009 IEQc5:Indoor Chemical and Pollutant Source Control

Entryway systems

1) In the C&S 2009 requirements for IEQc5, there is a statement that says "Core & Shell projects that do not have entryway systems cannot achieve this credit." What exactly does that mean? Are they talking about permanently installed entryway systems? Or do regularly maintained walk-off mats count as an entryway system? 2) Are service/delivery entrances that are only used once or twice a day considered a regularly used exterior entrances? I'm assuming no, but just wanted to confirm.

Any entryway that meets the credit requirements counts. That includes a maintained walk-off mat, but you must prove a weekly cleaning contract. What you define as a regularly used exterior entrance is your judgment call. As long as you can justify it, go with what makes sense to you.

Thanks Michelle for the clarification. Since we will barely have begun construction when we would submit this credit with the design credits, the owner won't have a weekly cleaning contract in place yet if they choose to do the walk-off mat route. Is there anything we can submit to achieve the credit when we submit?

Try a signed letter from the owner on letterhead committing to signing a contract for weekly cleaning.
