Pilot-Credits PC14:Walkable Streets

Implementing on a university campus

When I searched the forum for insight on how to apply/adapt some of the requirements for a campus setting, the posts were from way back in August 2012. Having just attempted the credit on an existing building, however, we agree that there should be some different metrics for campuses due to the distances between buildings and fewer traditional ROWs. We were able to meet the requirements but we were lucky with the site of this building; other buildings on the campus would not have met the requirement. Our building has 11 different building heights along the street frontage so calculating the average height weighted by each segment's linear share of the total block length was a bit cumbersome. While the team agreed that this was a valuable credit and in line with the intent of LEED, they would like to see clearer language on some of the requirements as applied to campus and existing buildings.
