NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

demolition of existing facade

Some years ago the facade of an existing building was demolished. The facade was completely glazed. The structure of the building (pillars, beams) was conserved. A new completely glazed facade is designed. Shall the facade of the baseline model be completely glazed? Since the goal of the demolition was to refurbish the building, I would say that I could apply point f. of Table G3.1#5. Regards

If the existing facade is all glass then the baseline is all glass. You have the right citation.

Thank you, Marcus. What do you suggest, in order to estimate the thermal properties of the old facade? It was a curtain wall. I'm looking for old pictures in order to understand a little bit more about materials, windows and so on. It isn't easy... Best Regards

Sounds like you are trying to do some on-site investigation which is the best way to determine the actual assembly U-value. If that fails you are allowed to use the values in Table A8.2.
