We're looking at this credit as a potential Innovation in Design for a Long-Term Care BD+C project. For our project, there are 2 large courtyards as well as several balconies that can be accessed, provided that residents are accompanied by family or staff. I'm wondering if the requirement for accompanied access would prevent credit achievement. The residents can access the space as needed provided they have someone go with them... Has anyone else attempted this in a long-term care setting, or a similar project where residents/in-patients are closely monitored?

I don't believe there is anything with this approach that would deny achieving the credit. I think most people realize that inpatients may need to be accompanied when going outside. I could see someone asking about the limitations on a patient going outside, particularly for those limited having staff move them outside. Try writing a narrative with your client on how this program gets implemented.
