We documented a "no smoking" sign (text and image) on the exterior wall of the building vestibule. Our review feedback was that since the signage system communicating the exterior smoking policy is entirely composed of a crossed out cigarette with simple no-smoking text, it could be interpreted as the interior smoking policy; it's unclear how that signage communicates the exterior policy.
If we add an additional sign in the same location that has the image of a crossed out cigarette along with the text "No Smoking on Premises," will this satisfy the requirement?
Is there other more specific text that should be used?

Hi Kelly, I think your proposed language is good for a campus situation where smoking is prohibited on the entire site. Typically the signage text is up to the project team, but the LEEDv4 Reference Guide does include some hints on acceptable language (e.g. "no smoking within 25 feet" and "smoking is allowed in designated smoking areas only"). Those might be other options to consider.
