CS-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Equipment Capacities

I am working on simulation with Carrier's HAP. I have to model baseline system 8 (VAV with PFB boxes) in accordance to ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G 2007. As heating type I should use Electrical resistance. I would know if electrical resistance means electrical coils on field or hot water with electrical boiler. I have this doubt because I'm not able to model the 25% oversizing for heating, when I use the elctrical resistance on field (ref. G.3.1.2.2). Could you help me? Thank you.

Thanks. You are confirming my opinion, but I have the problem how to oversize by 25% the heating coils in Carrier's HAP software. Do you have any references about this? Thanks for your help.

The electric resistance is modeled as reheat at the zone level. In HAP you can add an over-sizing factor at the system level. I am not sure if that translates down to the zone level or not. You can also add a safety factor but you should not do both. The specifics of exactly how to do this is HAP should be addressed to customer service or you can post a specific question to the HAP users group available through onebuilding.org.
