NC-2009 MRc3:Materials Reuse

Demolished Building - Material Reuse

Our client has demolished the existing structures on our site and salvaged all the cladding and flooring materials (i.e. corrugated metal, wood (cladding and flooring), etc.) The materials have been categorized and stored in an off site facility until needed during construction. These materials will be re-used as wood cladding on the exterior facade, wood cladding on interior walls, and corrugated metal cladding on interior walls. Can these salvaged materials from our site count towards MRc3? These items can not serve their original function nor live in their original location. But have been given a new life and diverted from the landfill.

Sounds like mostly yes. If you are reusing wood cladding on exterior walls as wood cladding on exterior walls salvaged from the same site I don't think that qualifies (salvage same time, same purpose). But materials you're salvaging for the site that were used, for example, for exterior cladding that is now interior cladding or flooring could. Hope that's helpful.
