Default occupancy counts (ASHRAE 62.1 vs. Reference Guide)

According to LEED Reference Guide (C&S Box in page 410), Core & Shell Projects that do not have occupancy counts must use the default occupancy densities provided in ASHRAE 62.1 (table 6.1). However, LEED Reference Guide Appendix 1 (Default Occupancy Counts for Core & Shell) provides default occupancy counts (distinct from those of ASHRAE 62.1) and states that these default occupancies shall be applied to IEQp1 and IEQc2. Can you please clarify?

Dear Pedro, I have the same doubt too. How did you solve it??

If you believe that this will be a concern for your LEED submittal, I suggest using the worst-case of the two (62.1 occupancy or Appendix 1) A narrative should be uploaded that describes a detailed explanation of your approach and how it meets the requirements of IEQp1 and IEQc2. However, typically Appendix 1 is not used for occupant density for EAp2, IEQp1/c2; they are for calculating FTEs of WEp1 and similar credits.
