I have a convention center project where it has a exhibit hall with high process load. It is larger than 20k ft2. So I don't know if I need to apply a system 5 to based on G3.1.1 Exception a or a system 3 based on Exception b (its peak load differ by more than 20 kbtu already). I guess my major question is what is nonpredominant conditions. The building is a commercial building, its just the exhibit hall has quite different load profile than the rest of the spaces (offices, meeting rooms etc). Thanks in advance

Predominate condition is based on area. If the area of the exhibit hall is greater than the remaining spaces then the exception gets applied to those spaces. G3.1.1 exception (a) only applies to the two scenarios mentioned (residential or not, heating fuel source difference).

Thanks Marcus. Since the hall does not apply to either those scenarios, I guess I will need to use Exception b
