Adding carpet to LEED Platinum NC building

If the project is already LEED-NC certified, you don't technically have to do anything (as that certification only looks at the initial design+construction of the building). That being said, to maintain the integrity of the certification and quality of the building, it is recommended that you utilize materials that meet the credit requirements. For this type of work, that would be selecting a carpet (and pad if applicable) which is certified by the Green Label Plus Program, utilizing a low VOC adhesive to install the carpet, and recycling as much waste as possible during the renovation process. Other items to also look at would be if you could find carpeting which has a high recycled content, is regionally manufactured from regionally harvested materials, and/or is made from rapidly renewable materials. If the building is considering LEED-EBOM certification, this effort could impact some of those credits if enough other facility alteration work is being performed to meet the eligibility requirements of those credits.
