Motorcycle parking spaces

Hi Catherine, Good question. For LEED v4, project teams are currently instructed to exclude "motorbike or bicycle spaces" from total parking capacity at the discretion of the project team. This means that motorcycle stalls will not count towards or against credit requirements. This is detailed in "LT Overview, Total Parking Capacity" of the Getting Started section of the BD&C Reference Guide (available here: http://www.usgbc.org/guide/bdc).

Hi Christopher, Can you please help to clarify? What if the motorcycle parking is under cover of a shade structure? Would it need to be included in the parking count for the facility? I only ask because there is contradictory guidance in the step-by-step guidance section of the Heat Island Reduction Credit. In the Sustainable Sites category on page 201 of the Reference Guide, it states for Parking under Cover, you do need to include motorcycle parking as vehicle parking spaces. Would this requirement also apply to the Reduced Parking Footprint credit? Or, would you only count the number of motorcycle spaces for the Heat Island Reduction Credit if they are under cover and not count them at all for the Reduced Parking Footprint Credit? Thanks in advance for helping to shed some light on this issue.
