NC-2009 EAp1:Fundamental Commissioning of Building Energy Systems

Medical gas system - part of fundamental commissioning?

Hello, my qeustion is regarding our medical gas system and if it should be part of the fundamental commissionig for LEED? We will undertake commissioning of the system but would prefer to excluded it from the LEED certification. Thank you /Veronika

I'm baffled. Why wouldn't you wrap Cx of medical gas into the scope of the CxA? It would provide a person to lead the Cx process in the building versus having several to coordinate. From a technical LEED point of view, I don't think there is anything in NC that would require medical gas. The original LEED program was written for commercial buildings and not the intricacies of a hospital.

Thanks for the quick reply. Then we will exclude it. The reason for us to exclude it is a bit complex. But shortly the LEED requirements regarding Cx are minor compared to the clients and therefore to make the documentation as smooth as possible for LEED-online we only want to include as few parts as possible.

I agree with Susan. The documentation for fundamental is not that extensive, in fact I do not think it is enough, but that is a whole other thread! Typically I would not recommend having two reports, or one that is only targeted to LEED, but that is your call, and would seem to add work rather than make it simpler.
