CO2 sensors in exhaust air duct

Hello I know that the CO2 sensors shall be installed in the breathing zone of the spaces. But if we have an HVAC system htat allows us to have the CO2 sensor to be installed in the exhaust air duct AND that you will be able to locate where the CO2 level is poor in case of the system would signal for this, would that be ok? I recall that the issue with CO2 sensors in the exhaust air duct was that you know that the CO2 level is poor someplace but you cant track the space down? Thank you for your input!

Just want to clearify that the CO2 sensors would be for every space in the exhaust air duct, so they will be local and not central for the whole building.

This would not be acceptable, as while this strategy sounds like it would allow for separate monitoring of each space's exhaust air CO2 (instead of average building levels), it does not appear that it would allow for the system to detect changes to the breathing zone CO2 concentration, which might not be accurately reflected in the return air due to stratification or other causes of uneven air mixing.
