EBOM-v4 WEp1:Indoor water use reduction

OPTION 2: Metered Water Use

I am a little confused here: Credit language states the following: • Meter fixtures and fittings and record metered data for one year to establish a water-use baseline. • For projects with at least 80% of fixtures and fittings metered, show that the water-use baseline has been maintained So does this mean that i take 12 months of data already recorded and compare it to 12 months during the performance period. If performance period + 12 previous months I satisfy it?

Hi Lorne, I agree this is confusing as written in the Reference Guide. Here's my understanding: 1. At least 80% of the indoor plumbing fixtures and fittings must be submetered to pursue Option 2 (if not the project must use Option 1 and complete the USGBC calculator) 2. You need 12 months of metered data in order to determine your building's water-use baseline 3. To earn the prerequisite, you need to use the same amount of water as the baseline (or less) during the 12-month performance period. (That's the "maintain the baseline" part). You earn points under the credit by reducing water use below the baseline (e.g. <5% reduction for 1 point, 5% reduction for 2 points, 10% reduction for 3 points, 15% reduction for 4 points, 20% reduction for 5 points, and 25% reduction for exemplary performance). I recommend checking out the LEED Online form too. Hope that helps!
