NC-v4 EQc2:Low emitting materials

Flooring & Composite Wood Emissions and Content Standards

Dear All, Our project is considering using flooring made of laminated composite wood. Under "Table 1" page 658 is this building element considered as "Flooring" or "Composite wood" or both? Does this building element need to meet the "General Emissions Evaluation" or "Composite Wood Evaluation" or both? Thank-you, Ian

The threshold column for composite wood states "100% not covered by other categories." One could infer that composite wood flooring would be placed under the "Flooring" category.

I agree with Scott. LEED has largely been changed from an ingredients standard to an emissions standard.

USGBC got back and stated that a laminated flooring is both a composite wood product, including laminating adhesives, and a flooring type. Therefore, this building element must meet the "General Emissions Evaluation" and the "Composite Wood Evaluation." Ian
