NC-2009 IEQc3.2:Construction IAQ Management Plan—Before Occupancy

New Filters Before Occupancy

IEQ-C3.2 and IEQ-C5 requires that new sets of filters need to be installed prior to Occupancy. If the project is pursuing both credits do we need to change the filters prior to the Flush out (IEQ-C3.2) and after completing that we need to change the filters for IEQ-C5 and before you bring the people in? I feel that the project need to have new filters before occupancy.

The MERV rating for IEQc3.1 (which I'm assuming your project is also earning) and this credit is 8. The minimum MERV rating for IEQc5 is 13. Because they aren't the same, they get changed before occupancy. This credit does require a change in filtration media before a flush and I believe most teams use MERV 8 filters. You could do more if you wanted.

Hello, I will not post another same question on the forum that's why I'm using this opportunity to ask my thoughts about the question above. What if the project already installed MERV 13 without performing the flush out, do we need to replace it with a new MERV 13 or other temporary filter like MERV 8 just for flush-out activity? Do we also need to replace the filter after the flush-out?
