CS-v4 IPc1:Integrative process

Case study for preliminary analysis

The credit states to perform a preliminary analysis of energy and water related systems. The project we are trying to certify is part of a complex, this complex has a building (A) already certified (LEED 2.2) with similar (almost identical) parameters and characteristics as the building (B) we are trying to certify. Would it be possible to perform this preliminary analysis based on the existing building (A)?

The purpose of the analysis is to inform the design of the current project. If you can make a definite connection to the current design it might work. The water balance could be done for the entire site. The energy analysis should be specific enough to inform the design of the current project. I probably do not know enough about the projects but your question prompted my own - why would you need to do the analysis on building A instead of B? I don't think that doing so would save any time or effort so I am not sure why you would want to do so.

Is it possible to earn this credit for existing buildings where it is not possible to influence some decisions such as orientation ?
