NC-2009 EAc5:Measurement and Verification

EA Cr5: Measurement & Verification for projects wherein Option D

The query is with reference to achieving EA Cr5: Measurement & Verification for projects wherein Option D and Option B of IPMVP Vol.III is not possible. In lieu of same, please confirm if in such case can any project achieve 1 credit only by compliance to MPR6 requirements of sharing the whole building energy & water usage data. Earlier version of LEED template did have provision of this as option 3. Please confirm if this scenario still prevails. The project is ready to share the Energy and water performance via Energy Star Portfolio manager but currently have only main meters installed to measure the total building energy and water usage and do not have sub-meters in place to measure the utility level consumption. If answer to the above query is yes, please clarify the following relevant to the compliance of MPR6 and thereby EA Cr5 requirements. • Can provision of only main meters for total energy and water consumption suffice the requirement of MPR6? As energy profile can be created in portfolio manager only using the total energy and water consumption values, the need for additional energy sub-meters could be avoided thereby reducing the initial cost for the client. • In case provision of sub-meters are mandatory for MPR6 and sub-meters are not installed during the project submissions to LEED, please provide a specific timeline, if any, within which the sub-meters should be installed on-site.

Yes you can still earn one point for Option a in MPR 6. No submetering required.
