We are modeling a new CS project with retail and restaurant tenant space. ASHRAE 90.1-2007defines process energy as: "Energy consumed in support of a manufacturing, industrial, or commercial process other than conditioning spaces and maintaining comfort and amenities for the occupants of a building." From this definition, we take it that space heating for occupant comfort is not included. In looking at the USGBC submission form for EAp2, Section 1.6, Table EAp2-4; the process load box for Space Heat is checked. That doesn't seem to agree with the definition of a Process Load. Might this be checked because of non-tenant storage space or crawl spaces in the building? Also, would the heat and cooling for a restaurant Make Up Air unit be considered part of the Process Load for the restaurant? It seems to make sense that way. Thanks.
