NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Fan power BaseLine

Hello everybody, I´m simulating a LEED Project. When calculating the powers of the fans as G3.1.2.9, the result is adequate. Fans are constant flow, and the system is PSZ-HP (System 4). Analyzing the simulation results, the annual consumption of the fans are 30% of total consumption of base building, it really is a very high value if compared with the consumption of the proposed building fans. It is normal, these flows base building?

That result is reasonable if the baseline are constant volume fans and the proposed are variable speed fans.

In this project, Proposed Building, fans are constant volumen too, but exist radiant floor anf fancoils. The total flow in baseline is 70 m3/s, and the total flow in proposed is 23 m3/s. The anual fan consumption in baseline is 500.000KWh The anual fan consumption in proposed is 30.000KWh Is it normal?? Thanks

A 94% reduction in fan energy use is not normal based on the information you provided. This level of claimed savings would be questioned in a LEED review. Make sure to double check the baseline fan power calculations.

To calculate fan power, the results of the G3.1.2.9 are total power (supply and exhaust) or I have to input these results to fan supply and fan exhaust independently ??? Thanks

The results are total fan power. You can check your results using the fan power calculator under the Documentation Toolkit in the header above.
