Hi, I am working on a warehouse project. My question was actually asked many times, however there was no clear answer so I try again. In the warehouse there is an office area with individual workspaces (where the lighting control will be installed). In the shipping and receiving area, however, there will be some task racks but no one is assigned to a specific place and they won't be sitting the whole day there. In the Space Matrix, there is a distinction between active and inactive. What does inactive mean (inactive is not concerned by the credit)? is it regurlarly and non-regularly? I know that other members of leeduser had the same querries, but all the answers proposed are not very helping. If anyone had to deal with this before on a project (and has the results of the certification) can he please describe how he proceeded. this credit is very confusing. Thank you

Hi Devani, Based on your description, the shipping and receiving area is active, and may be classified as a multi occupant space. Inactive spaces are nonoccupied (defined as spaces designed for equipment and machinery or storage with no human occupancy except for maintenance, repairs, and equipment retrieval. For areas with equipment retrieval, the space is only nonoccupied if the retrieval is occasional.) Based on the information provided, I am not sure if the space is regularly occupied or non-regularly occupied. The key is how much time the occupants spend inside the space: Regularly occupied spaces are areas where one or more individuals normally spend time (more than one hour per person per day on average) seated or standing as they work, study, or perform other focused activities inside a building. Note: the one hour timeframe is continuous and should be based on the time a typical occupant uses the space. For spaces that are not used daily, the one hour timeframe should be based on the time a typical occupant spends in the space when it is in use.
