CI-2009 MRc2:Construction Waste Management

Moving Compost

Soil is generally not allowed to be included in waste diversion calculations. But what if we are moving compost? We are building a new building in a site which is now a large city composting program, and the compost will be hauled to an adjacent site a few hundred yards away. Do you think that this material can be included in demolition and waste diversion calculations?

I applaud that you are doing the right thing by moving the compost but I think we always should go back to the credit intent - "to divert construction and demolition debris from disposal in landfills and incineration facilities..." This compost is really not debris and would it really have ever been landfilled? So, my opinion is that you shouldn't include it in your calculations for MRc2.
