The requirements for the EQ Management Plan in the LEED for Healthcare 2009 seems to be different from the NC 2009 requirements. Does anyone have an example of this plan? What if "low-noise emission" equipment isn't readily available? What version of the BS-5228 is required to follow and does anyone know where this document can be found?

If you have an "Interim Infection Control" spec that is based on Joint Commission documents that should suffice for the Infection Control part of the credit. I had to write a separate front end for Noise and Vibration Control. That of course will cost you a few dollars (and you can find British Standard on the web),but, depending on your location, check with your local zoning department as they may already have acoustics requirements that are equal to BS-5228. Still can't figure out what that has to do with IAQ. Outdoor emission control should be part of Project Management and Coordination. Caveat! I'm retired now but try and keep up with what's going on.

Todd - did you happen to find the document? I have combed the internet for both example plans and the actual details of the standard, but no luck. Thanks in advance for any help!

Good morning, Amy. A Google search for BS-5228 should provide the link.

I found the standard online: http://persona.uk.com/A21Ton/Core_dox/L/L3.pdf
And here's an example of a plan, although it's not for a LEED project: http://www.nonoise.org/resource/construc/bigdig.htm

Good for you Amy. I always worried about paying for something not in US currency! IEQ c2 can be fairly straightforward for designers, CA staff and contractors. I added the required technical FGI requirements in numerous Division 09 specs so that should be reasonably easy to achieve. For IEQ c 3.1, however, one should retain the services of an acoustical engineer to facilitate. Fortunately my former employer has an office of acoustical engineers but it might be something teams may need to refer to a consultant.
Good luck!
