I am working on a project that is on a busy road. There are a couple of bus stops (two different routes) on the other side of this road from my project. These stops are well within the 1/4 mile walking distance if the pedestrian does not use a designated crosswalk. If they are required to use the crosswalk to meet the requirements for LEED points, they are well over 1/4 mile. The requirement makes no mention of the walking path, just that it must be within 1/4 mile walking distance. Can I count the bus stops as within the 1/4 mile distance?

I have the same question, however with the Rail @ 1/2 mile walking distance. Does anyone know the answer to this?

Yikes guys, don't give anyone any ideas about making reviews harder! They're already pretty tough :)
I have never had this questioned. I have heard of people getting a question if a google earth aerial image shows some sort of major impasse between the project and the transit stop.
The main point is that there cannot be a major highway/stream/insurmountable wall in between your LEED project and the public transportation service.
Also... I was recently educated (by www.peds.org) that just because you don't use a cross walk doesn't necessarily mean you are "jay walking" / being unsafe....if you are crossing between stop signs rather than between two traffic signals (at the latter you are required to use a cross walk-- in Atlanta)
