NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

ASHRAE 90.1 Lighting Power Densities - Residential Buildings

Dear all, I was wondering how I can find the Lighting Power Densities for Residential Buildings in ASHRAE 90.1-2007. The 2 tables (Building Area Method & Space-by-Space) do not include categories specific to residential flats. Maybe "restrooms" and "family dining areas", but I'm not sure those are the most accurate. Can someone please advise on the Baseline maximum LPDs for flats? We basically have: 1) Bedrooms 2) Living rooms 3) Dining rooms 4) Bathrooms 5) Kitchens 6) Corridors 7) Balconies Many thanks, Omar

Residential lighting (beyond hotels and dorms) is not included in 90.1. See Table G3.1-6 (Proposed) (d) which indicates that the LPD must be identical in both models. Restrooms and dining are for commercial spaces. If you wish to claim savings you will need to do an exceptional calculation. There is further guidance in the Advanced Energy Modeling Guide for LEED.

Hi Marcus, I am sorry to open this thread. This is pertaining to LEED V4 which follows ASHRAE 90.1 2010. Can we realize energy savings in lighting for non air conditioned spaces like toilets, pantries. The baseline LPD for these non ac spaces as specified in table 9.6.1 is much higher than the actual LPD designed for the space.

In a commercial building yes you can. If using 9.6.1 you have to use the space by space method for the whole building.In residential you can as well but have to do an exceptional calculation.
