Does anyone know if it is possible to document energy savings on a Core & Shell project by installing daylight sensors in spaces and use the leasing agreement to enforce the connection of the installed lighting to these sensors?

Seems like it would be possible but will require a whole set of lighting design criteria to be placed into the lease agreements. In addition to a particular LPD you would need to consider specific light levels. Space layout (open office vs enclosed; partition heights) will also affect this issue so that would need to be included. It could get pretty complicated to arrive at a set of parameters enforceable in a lease that will guarantee a reliable prediction of energy savings but I think it could be done.

Hi Marcus,
I have the same question. We are preparing complete lighting design for the future tenet parts (Office) of the building. Can we apply for side daylight savings if we submit all lighting drawings including daylight sensors along with the other documents?

If you are designing it make sure that the tenant will be required to install your design by including the documents in your tenant guidelines. Make sure to provide a thorough summary of the modeling inputs for daylighting that match the design.
