VRF / VRV ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007 ACCORDING

Hello friends, Anyone have the feedback of USGBC where equipment are ranked VRV / VRF to require minimum efficiencies ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007 according in LEED 2009, or someone has this notion?. Regards

ASHRAE 90.1-2010 lists minimum efficiencies for VRF systems in Table 6.8.1J.

Hello Marcus, Perfect, but apparently to no classification LEED 2009. Then I have no to meet minimum efficiency?. I think it should be a recurring question, due to rising VRF projects and the postponement of the new LEED version that references the ASHRAE 90.1-2010. Or is there any addenda that tells me I must meet ASHRAE 90.1-2010 efficiencies for LEED 2009 projects?. Greetings.

Technically I suppose that is correct. It does not appear that this table was added by addendum. LEED 2009 projects using 90.1-2007 do not have to meet a minimum efficiency for VRF systems. With that said it might be good practice to select HVAC equipment that actually exceeds the minimum efficiency requirements for this equipment from 90.1-2010. The goal is to save energy relative to a baseline, not find loopholes that allow you to get away with not doing so.

We completely agree, I asked to meet mandatory Provisions no comments at the time of review by the USGBC. Now I'll have ASHRAE 90.1-2010 as a good reference to project VRV equipment at optimum efficiency. Thank you very much for your help, Best regards.

Sounds good. One minor amendment to your last sentence - I'll have ASHRAE 90.1-2010 as a good reference to project VRV equipment at "minimum" efficiency.

hehehe that's true... Thanks.
