Hallo all, We have a project in one Asian Country, where the Guard house (Gate house) is using a split type unit to condition the room, without mechanical fresh air intake. According to Standard 62.1-2007 5.1.1, we are trying to fulfil the IEQp1 by the natural ventilation with operable windows. We also have another active storage room with condition by the split-type unit and louvers introducing fresh air. My question is : if the operable windows area satisfies 5.1.1, can we make the LEED reviewer comfortable at these rooms? Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert, I think your question is actually limited to the guard house with operable windows only. In the IEQp1 template, select the option for naturally ventilated spaces and you will be able to fill out the table for all naturally ventilated spaces. In that table you can input the floor area and operable opening area and it will calculate the percentage and tell you if you meet the minimum requirements. Make sure that all occupied areas are within 8m of the operable opening. Also, make sure that you only calculate the OPEN part of the window. I hope that helps.
