NC 2009 ID point for LEED EBOM 2009 MRc4 Reduced Mercury

We're following the LEED HC pre-req and credit MRc4.1 for Mercury Reduction for our NC v3 Cancer Center. We are getting ready to submit for construction review. My thought on the EBOM credit is that this is plan based and not implementation based like the HC credit is. I don't know what kind of project you have but would encourage you to look at the HC guide.

I have successfully submitted a LEED NC 2009 project for an ID credit using the EBOM 2009 MRc4 Reduced Mercury credit. Check out the forum for the EBOM 2009 MRc4 credit too, there is some discussion about how to use it for LEED NC 2009. The Innovation credit does require the average mercury content limit of 80 picograms, instead of the 90 picogram limit stated in the typical credit. You will need to submit the template for MRc4 filled out as reasonably as you can. For example, you won't have a performance period, so don't fill out this portion of the template. Also required are the product specification sheets from the actual bulbs installed documenting the mercury content. FInally, my project also turned in a Reduced Mercury Lamp Purchasing Plan to show that building owners were commitment to continuing to purchase low mercury lamps. Also, review the overall requirments of MRc4. I think I caught everything here, but a double-check never hurts.

We have also been able gain this credit on four projects, using much the same technique as mentioned by BWBR above. So this definately works.

I was surprised to NOT see MRc4 listed as an allowable credit under IDc1 on the GBCI LEED Project Submittal Tips for LEED-NC 2009 - page 27 of http://www.gbci.org/Libraries/Certification_Resources/LEED_Project_Submittal_Tips-NC2009.sflb.ashx. There's a big list of credits but I guess they can't catch them all?
