NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

Janitor / Mop Sink faucets

Hi all, I was surprised to receive a recent review comment for WEp1 noting that we had left out the janitor sink faucet in our calcs. As noted in LEEDUser and elsewhere, janitor sinks are not covered by the WE credits, neither are they included in NC 2.2. The reviewer did a simple re-calculation and told us we had lost a percentage point (35% to 34%) which means the loss of one point! I've submitted an inquiry straight to the review team, but wanted to ask if anyone else has received a similar comment. In addition, the observation regarding janitor sinks was not mentioned at our preliminary design credit review, only during our final review. What is the official stance regarding "new" issues raised during final reviews?

Janitor sinks are "Bucket Filling" sinks and shouldn't be included as you stated. I've never had this issue before. I don't see why the LEED reviewer isn't allowed to bring up new issues, however, it's never happened on one of my projects. They use the term "Anticipated" rather than "Approved" to allow themselves the ability to bring up new items.

Exactly my point--glad you agree. I have no problem with new comments being brought up when credit documentation itself changes between review phases, but in the case of final reviews, in the absence of any changes, it gets tricky. I would expect the onus to be on the part of the reviewer to spot these issues first time around, otherwise compliance becomes a moving target for the project team. A mid-review clarification request would be appropriate in cases like this. Wondered if anyone has had similar experiences.
