If you can demonstrate that the SEER calculation is equivalent it would likely be accepted.

This is one of those "sticky" points for LEED international projects. Just like the filter classes, which have newly been ratified by the current state of the ACP credits (eg. MERV vs F-class), one has little choice but to use the European equivalent. In this case it should be noted that the weighting factors at part loads and the water temperatures are slightly different. That doesn't mean that the actual performance would be different. There is a great presentation dealing in part with this at http://www.ashrae.gr/Hazapis0206.pdf An example showed differences in rating of less than 0.2, i.e. IPLV by ARI-590 = 3,78 IPLV by CEN-Draft = 3,58 We have submitted this sort of documentation to support our claims before, without problems. For the purposes of comparing baseline and proposed models, this should suffice. In my opinion this will be accepted in the long run officially.
