NC-2009 WEc1:Water Efficient Landscaping

Option 2 on campus - do we need to add a meter for irrigation?

We will be tieing the new irrigation system into the existing. Do we need to meter the water use with the LEED boundary? Or will a buidling water meter that meters the water use within the building suffice for the MPR 6 requirement?

I don't think there is a clear ruling on this. In general you need to include the whole building's / project's water consumption. So I would think, if you claim points related to irrigation than definitely install the meter. If you don't that don't.

LEED EB defines "whole building" as the building and associated grounds for water performance measurement. In addition,The Energy and Water Data Release Authorization form which can be used with MPR 6 requires including the water use of the associated grounds as well. I would install a meter for the irrigation.
