Hello guys. I am modelling a hotel for LEED purpose. I need some help to chose the right table to calculate the Minimum Efficiency Requirements My system is package terminal heat pump PTHP (system 2). Which is the correct table to calculate the HVAC efficiency? 6.8.1B Electrically Operated Unitary and Applied Heat Pumps or 6.8.1D Electrically Operated Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners, Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps. Thanks.

Marcus, Additional question on energy modeling for hotels, please. If local code & the brand hotel model(i.e. Hilton) allow PTACs, can you use that HVAC type in the baseline and a centralized water source heat pump in the design model ?? Or must the baseline and design models both use the exact same HVAC type ?? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Baseline HVAC system is determined by 90.1 Appendix G and the Proposed HVAC is modeled as designed. For a hotel it is typical to apply G3.1.1(a) as an exception and model two different HVAC systems in the Baseline, one for the guest rooms and one for the lower floor common areas.

Thank you Marcus. We do typically model 2 different systems in the baseline for hotels as well as apartments, however I don't think we have ever modeled PTACs in the guest room baseline & WSHP as designed. Again, appreciate the guidance.

PTACs would be the Baseline system if there is fossil fuel in the design. If the design is all electric then the Baseline is PTHPs.
