Hi Nell, there have been a lot of discussions here about graphic arts coatings - you may want to search LEED User for "graphic arts coating" to review all the details, but I think this conversation will be the most helpful - http://www.leeduser.com/credit/Schools-2009/IEQc4.2?page=0#comment-3324.
Although I haven't used your product type, I would guess that it is similar to the gym floor paint, so graphic arts coatings would be appropriate.

I have another question related to gypm floor paint. We are planning to classify the gym floor paint at our school as a Graphic Arts Coating. The paint requires a special primer that exceeds the VOC requirements, however the manufacturer provided us with a letter stating that the primer is exempt per the "Small Container Rule" (ref. SCAQMD Rule 1113, section f). Basically, since the primer is sold in a container that is less than 1 liter (1.057 quarts), it is exempt from the SCAQMD Rule 1113 requirements. Has anyone had any luck applying this exemption for a LEED project?

Alison, although I haven't personally used this product type, I would recommend the budget method - since you're clearly using very little quantity it should be easy.

Nell, based on previous LEED project experience with our installers, I can tell you that the gymnasium game line paints fall under the graphic arts coatings classification as long as they are applied by hand with a brush or roller. As long as your product has a VOC of less than 500 g/L, you are in the clear!
