Regularly Occupied vs. Unconditioned

There are limitations to the forms. I would also say that the reviewer did not examine the documentation very well. If table PLF 3-1 has corridors, and your supplemental spreadsheet does not include corridors for the views credit, i see no reason for that to be questioned. Double check your calculations and submit a narrative response explaining why there is a difference. If it is denied again, i would contact GBCI about the issue.

I have a similar question. The Pl Form 3 requests only the gross square footage which is then automatically entered into the views credit template. Views are based on the net square footage of each room. This creates a discrepancy between the template and the calculator and causes the percentage to be lower than if it were based on net square footage. What would be your advice, is a narrative the best way to go?

table Plf3-1 has both gross area and regularly occupied gross area. This is the area that is then connected to both EQc8.1 and 8.2. Not sure why the table is not giving you the option on this. These are v3 forms that i just looked at. You may consider updating the form recursions also.

Since PIF3 template does not mention regularly occupied "gross" area, does anyone know whether is possible to consider the net area? Of course, this information would be kept consistently throughout all credits related to it, then calculation for IEQc8.2 would be more accurate. Any experience or thoughts would be helpful... Johanna, I was vice-chair of the IEQ Technical Advisory Group in a previous life: many years ago. You should claim occupiable floor area. That means excludes permanent built-in, but not movable furniture. ASHRAE 62.1 has the following for determining floor area for minimum ventilation requirements. I have always included items like built-in boockcases (library) to be safe .The main difference I have see with with the LEED reviews is that it is okay to exclude a built-in bookcase. That shouldn't be the case, but it has been allowed. ASHRAE 62.1, Section 3, Definitions: Net occupiable space: the floor area of an occupiable space defined by the inside surfaces of its walls but excluding shafts, column enclosures, and other permanently enclosed, inaccessible, and unoccupiable areas. Obstructions in the space such as furnishings, display or storage racks, and other obstructions, whether temporary or permanent, may not be deducted from the space area. If you can make the above work use it. If you need to exclude certain built-ins only do it where you can make a case they built-ins can be reconfigured by the owner without a lot of difficulty.
