NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

WEp1 - LEED - International - Faucets again

Regarding the 0.5gpm commercial lavator faucets, we are having a problem finding equipment. Here in Norway there are no faucets which delivers less than 1.5 gpm. YIT who deliver the pluming system have checked out all possibilitys. Even aerator comined with the 1.5 gpm have been rated. We have checked out the possibility to import fauchets from US or other countries. This is not possible cause the approval from offical Norwegian approval agencies not are in order. What to do? Any solution proposals?

If you can make up for the inefficient fixtures somewhere else, than you should be fine. That means not every fixtures has to meet this standard, but the aggregated consumption. In any case, if you can prove that there is no possible faucet, when go ahead and do a CIR, because in general the GBCI does except this and you can exclude it. However we have done extensive research on a European project for exactly that. The Toto fixture with 0.13 gpc was an opinion, but we could use it because of missing certifications. We ended up using Grohe 3204 EcoJoy with 0.66 gpm or Hansgrohe Metris-S with 12sec cycle and 0.26 gpc. Also we actually have the same contractor YIT in that project, but I must say they haven't been very helpful in the process. I hope that helps.

Thank you Susann. This was very helpfull. I find it strange that YIT could not fint this particular Grohe fuchet. The fuchets choosen for the project are all Grohe, the toilets too.

YIT wasn't very resource full, but they are working on it. Also there is an error in my comment. the toto fixtures are 0.17 gpc. Also if you need any other plumbing fixtures, please feel free to asked. I have certified 4 projects in Europe, 2 two more are on its way. I'll be happy to share my experience. Good luck with your project!

Susann, I'am using the same fixture series (Grohe Ecojoy). The supplier's datasheet states that :"By adjusting the flow limiter in the ecojoy version, we can reach a flow rate of 0.76 gpm". From your experience with this series - Ecojoy - can I use this flow rate directly (the 0.76 gpm), or the reviewer will consider this an adjustment, and will ask to place the max flow rate?

I haven't worked on a project in the EU, but I know Neoperl is a German company. It seems as though they may have aerators available that are 2.0 l/min (=0.5283 gpm) and potentially even less. German: http://www.neoperl.net/de/oem/pdbnav.html?path=/oem/products/aerators/productlines/pcaspray/pdbcollection/pdb English: http://www.neoperl.net/en/oem/pdbnav.html?path=/oem/products/aerators/productlines/pcaspray/pdbcollection/pdb Could that help?
