Transfering RECs

Hi Linda! If the University purchased more Green Power than needed on a particular project, then the extra RECs could technically be applied towards another project, as long as the project was registered with the USGBC before the REC signed contract date. Green Power can be purchased to achieve the LEED Green Power credits from any point from the initial registration of the project, all the way up to the final submission of the project. Many universities and larger institutions purchase RECs in bulk if they have several registered LEED projects, and they can divvy out the appropriate amount to different projects as needed. We have done this with many clients, and we generate separate LEED submittal documents as the projects request them. Hope this helps!
